Villarmartin Golf

Spain is renowned for its beautiful golf courses and the Costa Blanca in particular has a large number of high quality courses.

The development and entire area has been formed around The Villamartin PGA Championship golf course. The courses of Villamartin, Campoamor, and Las Ramblas are within 5 minutes of each other. Together they make up the golf triangle.

The only problem that you maight have is choosing which courses to play. To help you, here is a summary of some of the courses in the area, starting with the Campo de Golf Villamartin, where our Villa Casa Joan is situated .

Campo de Golf Villamartin

This course is not too long, and is well adapted to the natural surroundings and terrain. It is a varied course, although the fact that it is located in the lowest part of a valley means it is not very undulating.

There is Mediterranean vegetation in abundance as well as thick woods, although they rarely come into play.

The greens are not too small and each hole is completely different. The difficulty of this course lies in having to avoid a natural precipice and several water hazards on some holes.

(Par 72) 6132 metres. This course has played host to several PGA Tour events and in 1994 hosted the Mediterranean Open won by Jose Maria Olazabal. Regarded as the best course in the region and one of the best in all of Spain. Book well in advance.

The Real Club de Golf Campoamor

Built on a former country estate and surrounded by beautiful unspoilt countryside, was designed to take advantage of the unusual terrain of the area.

Its 18 holes run through two connected valleys surrounded by low, gently undulating ridges which protect it from the wind and create a special microclimate which allows people to play golf all the year round.

The course is situated about 100 metres above sea level, and is bordered to the south by the Tagus-Segura canal.

In addition to this attractive and original layout, with marvellous views over the intense blue of the Mediterranean, the special features of the course create difficult rounds for experienced players and simpler ones for those new to the sport.

(Par 72) 6203 metres. Course adapted for professional and amateur player. Wide and long fairways and challenging greens.

Club de Golf Las Ramblas

(Par 72) 5770 metres. This 18-holer is on mountainous ground which makes the course very interesting for players who like to take a few risks. As it is very mountainous, it calls for difficult strokes.

It is worth mentioning the many trees that surround the course, and the water hazards. There are slopes are all along the course and although some of them are very difficult, they make the game more attractive and interesting.

The course is not too long and has wonderful views. Accuracy is required.

Located between 2 ravines on the shore of the Mediterranean. Has two lakes, narrow fairways and demanding greens, making this a real golfing test.

The La Finca Algorfa Golf

This club lies in natural surroundings of great beauty and with fantastic views. Its facilities are open to those people who want to play golf in the heart of nature while being able to enjoy the beaches, sailing clubs and a host of other facilities and services just a few minutes away.

It is the newest course in the province of Alicante and while it has been open to the public for some weeks it has not yet been inaugurated officially. La Finca golf course is situated at the foot of Mount Escotera, in the municipality of Algorfa, right in the heart of the Segura region.

Designed to host top tournaments, La Finca golf course has the greatest variety of greens of any course on the Costa Blanca, ranging in size from very large to very small. In addition, the course has a reserve hole so that, in the event that one of the holes has to be closed off unexpectedly, players are still able to complete a full 18-hole round.

Several lakes with running water and reed beds along the course add beauty and difficulty to the game, and have made the course the home of a wide variety of migratory water birds, such as ducks and egrets, while the interior of the course is home to olive and palm trees, thus creating a beautiful backdrop of vegetation with a distinctly Mediterranean flavour.

(Par 72) 6450 metres. Owned by Villamartin. Opened 2001 a course designed to attract major PGA tournaments. Regarded as finest new course in Spain.
